How we work together
I offer counselling sessions of 50 minutes' duration in person or via Zoom - or a mixture of both.
I work integratively. This means that I use a number of theories to work in the way which best suits your needs. I use the psychodynamic approach to explore the past and how this might affect you today. I use humanistic principles to work with you in relationship in the present.
Our work together is led by you. You are welcome to share any material, and in any form, be it dreams, writing or something else. Within the safety of this relationship, you may wish to explore your identity, culture, and experience of sameness and difference. When you feel ready, I am here to listen and work with you.
If you decide to work with me, we can agree on a number of sessions, or work in a more open-ended way depending on your emotional and financial needs. We can review this at any point.
FEES
£80-£100 per session.
You are required to pay 50% for sessions which you miss or cancel with more than 48 hours' notice, and 100% with fewer than 48 hours' notice. I have a number of spaces for clients who cannot pay the full amount - please do ask if you have concerns about payment.
ETHICS
I am an accredited member of the BACP. I follow the BACP code of ethics (find out more here).
CONFIDENTIALITY
The material you discuss in your sessions, and the fact that you are having therapy are both confidential. However, there are some limits and exceptions to confidentiality:
I will discuss our work with a supervisor to ensure good practice.
I am obliged to report current child abuse, serious threats of harm against yourself or another person, and threats to commit terrorist acts to the relevant authorities.
Wherever possible, I will inform you before any disclosures are made to third parties.
DATA PROTECTION
If we decide to work with each other, we will then discuss how I store your data according to GDPR guidelines. My practice is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the reference ZB175979.
